Ongoing and Annual Events

A monthly networking event geared to build collaborations and address Greater Philadelphia–area environmental hazards. The Consortium aims to develop technical resources for neighborhoods concerned about local environmental hazards. Since 2004, CHF and the Society of Chemical Industry (SCI) have hosted Innovation Day, where we celebrate innovation in the chemical industry today and seek solutions for tomorrow’s challenges. Highlights of the day include the Warren G. Schlinger Symposium and the awarding of the SCI Gordon E. Moore Medal and SCI Perkin Medal.

The Society of Chemical Industry awarded the eighth annual Gordon E. Moore Medal to Doron Levin of ExxonMobil. SCI awarded its prestigious Perkin Medal to Rodney Banks of Nalco Company.

The conference brought together women in all areas of science, technology, engineering, and math. They had the opportunity to share their own experiences as women in the scientific workforce and discuss their research. Frontiers of Discovery included speakers presenting original scientific research, as well as discussing personal and historical issues relevant to women in science today.

AAAS-CHF History Seminar >

Sponsored by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Archives and the Center for Contemporary History and Policy, the AAAS-CHF History Seminar was an informal forum on the social, institutional, and intellectual histories of contemporary policy problems that rely upon science and technology. Invited speakers explored the historical genesis of a wide range of current policy topics, such as energy, environment, and health. The forum engaged scholars with scientists, policy makers, and members of the general public.
